REVIEWS:
As if Crumble wasn't endearing enough, here's Stephane Garry with another four tracks of adorably amiable Francopop. Showing Gomez et al how you really make offbeat pop records, Pokett is in an acoustic mood with "Walls proving the sunshine and "Rain On" bringing the introspection, while "Sand" bookends the EP in a curious fashion. "Yours"provides the best end credits for an indie coming-of-age dramdey set in Paris, like, ever, and I bet Zach Braff is salivating at the very thought of it.

Transforming to Hogwarts from the French school del la wizardrie Beauxbatons is one Stephane Garry. Wizard or muggle, it doesn't matter - Garry is a particularly un-magical name, which is presumably why the French indie-folk singer goes by the much more intriguing Pokett. Oooohh, see? And already it seems Pokett can do a bit of underage magic, by smuggling in four songs where one is all I needed. Now, I'd better get sorting, before Dumbledore realises he can separate people into four groups easily enough by himself. Oh that's right, he can't. He's dead. Or is he...? Yeah, he is. So Pokett's given us a stack of lovely, warm, singer-songwriter tunes here, some of them featuring just his guitar complimenting that smooth comforting voice. Either way, it's very pleasant indeed. How, what's the house that i send all the nicely unremarkable and superfluous characters to? Oh yeah, Hufflepuff, you've got a new member.

This EP makes the point that you can also acquire it as a free download, but what sort of jerk would resent paying for something this sweet? Pokett is pretty much French performer Stephane Garry, whose folky lo-fi acoustic guitars, brushed-drums and breathy vocals have more in common with, say Red House Paintings than Xavier Rudd (the gorgeous "Yours" is the highlight; a hypnotically slow-building track with artful use of a delay pedal) If you like your folk with a distinctly alternative edge, you'll love this.
